CSR

At Gibson Whitter, we’re constantly aware of our role and responsibility, in the local community and in the wider environment.

In the community
Locally, we like to get involved with and support groups, associations and organisations that are also committed to giving something back to the community.

This includes devoting part of our own free time and using our skills to help these groups fulfil their aims; for example, Gavin Whitter is a trustee director of The National Museum of the Royal Navy, where he chairs the Audit and Governance Committee. In addition, David Bourne is a trustee director of Wymering Manor Trust where he chairs the finance sub committee and Linda Gibson is a former trustee of the Dreams Come True Charity and a volunteer for the Tax Help charity.

Kara Parker is a volunteer for the Enableability charity.

We sponsor the Denmead Dinosaur Derby each year.

We have sponsored the “Surface Tension” art project from Aspex Gallery, which was showcased at the 2017 Victorious Festival.

For the planet
From an environmental viewpoint, we believe every contribution to saving resources and reducing energy consumption, no matter how small, contributes to the greater good.

Chartered Accountancy generates a great deal of paperwork, and when it has outlived its usefulness, we recycle it securely by shredding, saving many trees by using this method. Similarly we encourage all our people to adopt energy efficient practices.

We’re also taking major steps to reduce our use of paper and print, through software and electronic storage. We haven’t quite achieved the paperless office, but we’re well on the way!
